My initial definition of e-learning, was simply a device that provided courses on the computer. Now comparing my definition with Brandon Hall’s definition is a little different. Brandon Hall states that e-learning is a “instruction” that is delivered through the intranet and internet, delivered through multimedia platforms such as CD Roms and DVD’s.
This differes from my initial definition as i did not associate e-learning with DVD or CD-ROM i thought it was just a course uploaded by the creator to the computers of people whi=o are undertaking the course. I never thought it was accessed through the internet or intranet.
Furthermore, as Tsai & Machado (2002) mention e-learning as a distance education. This goes further to vary from my definition as I alsways thought of e-learning to be only accessible from school or work.
In contrast to what i thought about e-learning Lim (2001) states that e-learning is not all about technology, not all about the web and information but how people utilise the e-learning system to their benefit. I never thought about it in that way, i intially thought people who can use computers will have the most benefits with e-learning.
