E-learning in organisations is becoming more and more abundant. A study was conducted in Korea about the current status of e-learning, and according to Leem & Lim (2007) the study found that 85% of the university’s and colleges had investigated implementing e-learning. This percentage figure supports the notion that e-learning is becoming rapidly popular around the world and not only in Australia.
Furthermore, in 2006 the status of e-learning in Japan in the education institue was abundant and their mission is to make it even more bigger, as their main goal is to diversify. As Shimizu (2006) states the education departments goal is to “double the percentage of undergraduate and graduate courses adopting distance learning through the Internet,
facilitate cooperation with national, international colleges and enterprises”.
From my own experences at work e-learning is also supported. The Human Resources team arrange for all staff to recieve training and development through online exams an activites, which are provided through outsourced companies. For example, at the moment our company has made it compulsary for all staff to complete the Sexual Harrassment training provided by AI Group EEO Online Training. This e-learning system is quiet user friendly, providing step by step instructions before you endevour the exam. I believe that most companies are also improving the e-learning system in their workplace making them user friendly, which shows that e-learning systems are upgrading and finding new ways to make the process more effective and effecient.
