What is a web based application?
From what i have read and understood so far about web based application i have come to conlcude that it is any form of application that may be accessed through the internet or the intranet. Web based applications include blogs, wikis and discussion boards.
Web 2.0 has emerged since the introduction of web 1.0. The advancement of the World Wide Web entering the social networks, people found that these social networks were similar to the networks in the physical world and therefore have called it the Web 2.0, which can be evident as Downes (2005) states “the web itself was being transformed from what was called the “read web” to the “read write web”.
Web 2.0 was different from Web1.0, as web 1.0 allowed people to acces the internet, where as web 2.0 allowed people to access the internet and to share information with others and create information and post it on websites themselves.
Web 2.0 and the relevance to learning:
Web 2.0 made the use of the internet more practical for learners, as people are now able to access other peoples blogs, wikispaces- reflect on what others have learnt, what they have learnt themselves and to be able to note what was learnt onto a internet page, where they can access it through web 2.0.
